Business growth and market expansion
Growth is a choice of where not to go, as much as where to go. Companies add a market because a customer asked, or because a neighboring state looks similar, and then discover the cost of being there.
We write the expansion as a sequence with a stop rule. What has to be true before the next step, who owns it, and which number would tell the board the beachhead is not working. Ambition stays in the paper. So does the limit.
This is the same work we do with organizations in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio.
What the work includes
- Segment and prioritize target markets and customer jobs
- Assess channels, partners, and competitive intensity
- Build expansion scenarios with resource and timing implications
- Define milestones for geographic or product-line expansion
What should be different afterward
- A prioritized expansion thesis
- Clear go/no-go criteria
- Action plan tied to capacity and capital
